If you're new here, welcome! My name is Megan Garza, and I'm a Certified Nutritional Therapy Practitioner, Holistic Health Coach, and 200-HR Certified Yoga Instructor who helps women struggling with digestive issues and hormone imbalances by using nutrition based on female physiology and simple lifestyle changes to help them have smooth digestion, clear skin, and reduce inflammation. I'm trained to assess a client's needs, nutritional gaps, and health goals and to provide the tools for optimal well-being.
For most of my teenage years, I suffered from severe Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), hormone imbalances, ADHD, depression, anxiety, cystic acne, painful periods, joint pain, insomnia... the list goes on and on.
I was medicated for many of these issues, but nothing ever seemed to get better. As time went by, I started to get the feeling that something was not quite right about the route of "treatment."
One day, I stopped taking the anti-depressants, birth control pills, antibiotics, and all of the other medications I was prescribed, and it was like the fog had lifted and I could see clearly, but I knew that the journey had just begun.
While some symptoms were improving, others were not: my acne was still inflamed, my IBS was constantly flaring up, my anxiety was through the roof, and I was always tired! I wanted answers, not pills to mask the symptoms.
I sought out a natural solution and dug into the basics of biology, endocrinology, mindset work, and nutrition for female physiology. It led me down the rabbit hole of Holistic Health.
Since then, I've dove DEEP into a systemic approach toward health rather than simply focusing on one part of the body. I studied my own body and the lives of women I was working with, friends, and family. I attended a 200-HR Yoga Teacher Training to understand the mind-body connection and the nervous system. I read books and articles and listened to podcasts every day. I even attended the Institute of Integrative Nutrition and the Nutritional Therapy Association to uncover the whole body approach to health.
The root cause of my health problems stemmed from an unhealthy gut, and unfortunately, many women suffer from digestive problems. The gut microbiome plays a vital role in your overall health and without a properly functioning gut, everything breaks down and runs into trouble: your skin, sleep, hormones, mental health, weight, and much more!
Even back in 340 BCE the Greek physician Hippocrates stated that “All Disease Begins in the Gut.”
Everything began to make sense. The more women I talked to, the more I began to realize how common these occurrences are in women. The food sensitivities, uncomfortable gas, bloating, anxiety, acne, all the while feeling like nobody has any answers for them. Lab tests coming back normal, being told "it's all in your head," but deep down you know there's a better way.
And that's when it clicked. It's how I created my 1:1 Nutrition Coaching Package - created through a place of intention, empowerment, and knowledge.
